Leonard Trahan, Jr.
Director, Defense Hotline Directorate
Mr. Trahan joined the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Defense - DOD Hotline, in July 1987, after retiring from a career of more than twenty years in military law enforcement.
In his previous career Mr. Trahan was a (Regular Army, Chief Warrant Officer) Special Agent, assigned to the US Army, Criminal Investigation Command (Army CID). When he retired in 1987, he had served as an Army CID Special Agent in a variety of assignments – including over five years on the Defense Secretary’s executive protection detail. His military awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (with oak-leaf cluster), the Army Commendation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
In May 1986, Mr. Trahan received a Master of Arts degree from The George Washington University, Washington, DC, with concentration in Management of Investigative Organizations and Procurement Fraud Investigation.
In 1998, Mr. Trahan authored an article entitled: “Anonymous Sources – Voices of the Unknown,” which was published in the Journal of Public Inquiry (spring/summer edition).
Mr. Trahan has received the following civilian awards –
