The DoD Office of Inspector General will conduct a quality systems evaluation of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). Specifically, we will evaluate whether:
- Internal quality controls and self-inspections by NCIS leadership are suitably designed, and operating efficiently and effectively in support of the resolution of high quality criminal investigations;
- NCIS responds to and investigates allegations of criminal incidents as required by DoD and Service policy; and
- Investigative support programs, such as firearms, emergency and extraordinary expenses funds,evidence collection/storage, provide efficient and effective support to criminal investigations.
