DoD OIG Semiannual Report to the Congress | April 1, 2016 to September 30, 2016

The Semiannual Report to the Congress has been issued. For the reporting period of April 1 through September 30, 2016, the DoD OIG issued a total of 65 audit, inspection, and evaluation reports that identified $52.4 million in questioned costs and $1 billion in funds put to better use. The DoD OIG also achieved $1.3 million in financial savings based on management-completed corrective actions related to reports issued in this and previous reporting periods. Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) investigations, including those conducted jointly with other law enforcement organizations, resulted in $445.3 million in civil judgments and settlements; $56 million in criminal fines, penalties, and restitution ordered; and $42.1 million in administrative rec

The Semiannual Report to the Congress has been issued for the reporting period of April 1, 2014, to September 30, 2014. The report summarizes the scope of DoD IG’s oversight activities, as well as the contributions of the audit and investigative agencies of the military departments. During the reporting period, DoD IG issued 76 reports identifying $9 billion in potential monetary benefits. Defense Criminal Investigative Service investigations were the basis for 70 arrests, 145 criminal charges, 136 criminal convictions, 68 suspensions and 137 debarments as well as $354.9 million in investigative receivables and recoveries.

DoD OIG Semiannual Report to the Congress | October 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014

The Semiannual Report to the Congress has been issued for the reporting period of October 1, 2013, through March 31, 2014. The report summarizes the scope of DoD IG’s oversight activities, as well as the contributions of the audit and investigative agencies of the military departments. During the reporting period, DoD IG issued 52 reports identifying $3.6 million in potential monetary benefits. Defense Criminal Investigative Service investigations were the basis for 48 arrests, 171 criminal charges, 147 criminal convictions, 82 suspensions, and 81 debarments, as well as $1.5 billion in monetary benefits to the Government.

DoD OIG Semiannual Report to the Congress | April 1, 2013 to September 30, 2013

The Semiannual Report to the Congress has been issued for the reporting period of April 1, 2013, through September 30, 2013. The report summarizes the scope of our achievements of DoD IG, as well as the contributions of the audit and investigative agencies of the military departments. During the reporting period, DoD IG issued 83 reports and identified $23.5 billion in potential monetary benefits. DCIS investigations resulted in 111 arrests, 175 criminal charges, 147 criminal convictions, 76 suspensions, and 102 debarments, as well as $619.8 million returned to the U.S. government.

DoD OIG Semiannual Report to the Congress | April 1, 2012 to September 30, 2012

The Semiannual Report to the Congress for the reporting period of April 1 to September 30, 2012 has been issued. The report summarizes the significant achievements of DoD IG, as well as the audit and investigative agencies of the military departments. During the reporting period, DoD IG issued 79 reports to include audits, assessments and evaluations and identified potential monetary benefits of $2.8 billion. DCIS, working closely with counterpart law enforcement agencies, conducted investigations that resulted in 72 arrests, 167 criminal convictions, 37 suspensions, and 136 debarments, and generated a return of $3.3 billion to the U.S. government. This report highlights oversight efforts related to Afghanistan and warrior care. The report also summarizes significant accomplishments of DoD IG audits, investigations and inspections.
