Audit of the Military Services’ Oversight of Privatized Military Housing Maintenance (Report No. DoDIG-2025-154)
/ Published Sept. 8, 2025
The objective of this audit was to determine whether the Military Services conducted effective oversight of military privatized housing maintenance performed at units managed by Hunt Military Communities (Hunt) in accordance with the property management agreements and DoD policy.
The Military Services did not effectively oversee Hunt’s maintenance of privatized housing units at the seven installations we reviewed. Specifically, at all seven installations, Military Housing Office officials did not properly complete Change of Occupancy Maintenance inspections or comply with work order oversight requirements. As a result, the Military Services may be allowing families to be placed into homes that have life, health, and safety hazards.
