Project Announcement: Evaluation of the Department of Defense’s Efforts to Address the Climate Resilience of U.S. Military Installations in the Arctic and Sub-Arctic (Project No. D2021-DEV0PC-0106.000)

We plan to begin the subject evaluation in May 2021. The objective of this evaluation is to determine the extent to which the DoD has addressed the climate resilience of U.S. military installations in the Arctic and sub-Artic. The objective of our evaluation was to report on the effectiveness of voting assistance programs and the level of compliance with the voting assistance programs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps during calendar year 2020, in accordance with the requirements of section 1566, title 10, United States Code (10 U.S.C § 1566 [2014]), as amended.

Project Announcement: Evaluation of the Department of Defense's Reform of Privatized Military Housing Oversight Related to Health, Safety, and Environmental Hazards (Project No. D2021-DEV0SR-0093.000)

We plan to begin the subject evaluation in March 2021. This evaluation is the second in a series of three evaluations we will perform in response to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020 (Public Law 116-92), section 3044, “Inspector General Review of Department of Defense Oversight of Privatized Military Housing.” The objective of this evaluation is to determine the extent of the Department of Defense's compliance with privatized military housing oversight requirements related to health, safety, and environmental hazards in the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. We may revise the objective as the evaluation proceeds, and we will also consider suggestions from management for additional or revised objectives.

Project Announcement: Evaluation of Department of Defense Efforts to Develop and Implement Policy and Procedures Addressing Ideological Extremism Within the U.S. Armed Forces (Project No. D2021-DEV0PB-0079.000)

The DoD Office of Inspector General (OIG) plans to begin the evaluation in January 2021. Our objective is to determine the extent to which the DoD and the Military Services have implemented policy and procedures that prohibit active advocacy and active participation related to supremacist, extremist, or criminal gang doctrine, ideology, or causes by active duty military personnel, as required by DoD Instruction 1325.06. The DoD OIG may revise or expand the objective and scope as the evaluation proceeds, and we will consider suggestions from management for additional or revised objectives.

The DoD Office of Inspector General will conduct an evaluation of Military Criminal Investigative Organization’s (MCIO) Major Procurement Fraud (MPF) programs. The objective of this evaluation is to determine whether the major procurement fraud investigations comply with Department, Service, and MCIO policy.

Project Announcement: Evaluation of the DoD’s Implementation of Suicide Prevention Resources for Transitioning Uniformed Service Members (Project No. D2020-DEV0PB-0189.000)

The DoD Office of Inspector General (OIG) plans to begin the subject evaluation in October 2020. The objective of this evaluation is to determine whether the DoD provided suicide prevention resources for transitioning military service members as required by Executive Order 13822, Presidential Executive Order on Supporting Our Veterans During Their Transition From Uniformed Service to Civilian Life. For the purpose of this evaluation, a transitioning Service Member includes all individuals with a planned or pending separation from active duty military service. This includes individuals completing service commitment contracts, retiring, and involved in medical evaluation boards or administrative separation proceedings. We may revise the objective as the evaluation proceeds, and we will also consider suggestions from management for additional or revised objectives.
