DoD OIG Semiannual Report to the Congress | October 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012

The Semiannual Report to the Congress for the reporting period October 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 has been issued. The report shows the scope of our oversight as well as the contributions of our counterparts in the military departments.

During the reporting period, we issued 69 reports and identified $90 million in potential monetary benefits. The audit, assessment and evaluation reports provide valuable feedback to the Department about mission critical areas such as joint warfighting and readiness; acquisition processes and contract management; and financial management. DCIS investigations led to 61 arrests, 155 criminal charges, 87 criminal convictions, 103 suspensions and 78 debarments, and generated a $304 million return to the U.S. government. The Semiannual Report highlights DoD IG services that support the Department to include the Defense Hotline, Contractor Disclosure Program and Whistleblower Protection Program.

The Semiannual Report to Congress Insert includes examples of our high-impact work along with articles detailing our efforts to assist the Department in improving financial management, achieving audit readiness and protecting the DoD supply chain.
