Evaluation of U.S. Special Operations Command’s Supply Chain Risk Management for the Security, Acquisition, and Delivery of Specialized Equipment (DODIG-2021-125)

We determined the extent to which the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) developed and implemented supply chain risk management procedures in accordance with DoD policy to identify, assess, and mitigate risk during the acquisition and development of USSOCOM specialized equipment. Specialized equipment is equipment, material, supplies, and services required for special operations missions for which there is no Military Service common requirement.

Project Announcement: Interagency Coordination Group of Inspectors General for Guam Realignment Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2021 (Project No. D2021-D000RL-0148.000)

We plan to begin the subject review in September 2021. We are conducting this project in response to Public Law 111-84, “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010,” section 2835, October 28, 2009, as amended. This Act requires the DoD Inspector General as the chairman of the Interagency Coordination Group to provide a report to Congress by February 1, 2022, that summarizes the programs and operations funded with amounts appropriated or otherwise made available for military construction in the Territory of Guam. In addition, section 2835(h) of the Act states that the Interagency Coordination Group shall terminate upon the expenditure of 90 percent of all funds appropriated or otherwise made available for Guam realignment and shall provide a final audit of the programs and operations funded with amounts appropriated or otherwise made available for military construction on Guam.

Project Announcement: Evaluation of Department of Defense Military Medical Treatment Facility Challenges During the Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic in Fiscal Year 2021 (Project No. D2021-DEV0PB-0144.000)

We plan to begin the subject evaluation in August 2021. The objective of this evaluation is to determine the challenges, concerns, and needs encountered by medical personnel working at DoD Military Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. We may revise the objective as the evaluation proceeds, and we will also consider suggestions from management for additional or revised objectives.

Evaluation of the Department of Defense’s Actions to Control Contaminant Effects from Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances at Department of Defense Installations (DODIG-2021-105)

The objective of this evaluation was to determine the extent that the DoD has taken steps to: identify, mitigate, and remediate contamination from perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at DoD installations; and identify populations exposed to PFAS at DoD installations and inform them of the associated health and safety concerns.

Audit of the Department of Defense’s Implementation of the Memorandums Between the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security Regarding Cybersecurity and Cyberspace Operations (DODIG-2021-100)

The objective of this audit was to determine whether the DoD planned and executed activities to implement the memorandums between the DoD and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding cybersecurity and cyberspace operations. We conducted this audit in coordination with the DHS Office of Inspector General, which conducted a concurrent audit on the DHS activities taken to implement the memorandums. The DHS Office of Inspector General expects to issue a final report in FY 2021 with findings and recommendations specific to the DHS.
