Project Announcement: Termination of the Evaluation of the Security of Department of Defense Electronic Voting for the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (Project No. D2020-DEV0PA-0111.000)

Evaluations

We announced the subject audit on April 27, 2020, (attached). The objective was to determine whether Department of Defense electronic voting methods effectively identify, authenticate, record, and safeguard the votes of individuals covered by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). We are terminating this evaluation because the primary responsibility for security of the voting process is the responsibility of the States and agencies outside of the Department of Defense. Specifically, while the Department of Defense supports the security of electronic voting efforts when requested, the Department does not play a key role in the security of electronic voting.
