The objective of this audit was to assess the effectiveness of the Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) efforts to recover costs of health care services for Medical Affirmative Claims (MAC).
The DHA effectively managed efforts to recover costs of health care services for MACs, but challenges with transitioning the MAC programs from the Military Departments hindered the DHA’s ability to maximize cost recovery. While the DHA coordinated key offices by creating a working group to address emerging issues, it did not consolidate all MAC program activities.
