The purpose of this final management advisory is to inform DoD and Department of the Navy leadership of concerns identified at Naval Air Station (NAS) Key West during the evaluation of the DoD’s actions to address mold hazards in privatized military housing.
In October 2025, the Secretary of Defense established the Barracks Task Force to address substandard living conditions and improve the quality of life for Service members.
We reviewed the system of quality control for the U.S. Special Operations Command Office of the Inspector General Audit Division (SOIG A) in effect for the 3 year review period that ended on December 31, 2024.
On December 14, 2023, the DoD OIG announced DoD OIG Project No. D2024 D000AW 0034.000, “Review of Selected DoD Transactions to Test Management Controls and Identify Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Within DoD Programs.”
This management advisory identifies concerns related to DoD Components' marking of controlled unclassified information (CUI).
The DoD OIG submits semiannual reports summarizing its activities as required by the Inspector General Act of 1978. These reports serve to apprise Congress and the Secretary of Defense of noteworthy findings, progress, and recommendations for improvement.

The objective of this audit was to assess the effectiveness of the DoD’s processes to ensure remote work employees receive the correct locality pay in accordance with Federal law and requirement
