Project Announcement: Evaluation of DoD Compliance at Active Sites Conducting Open Burning or Open Detonation of Excess Conventional Ammunition and Explosives in the U.S. and Its Territories (Project No. D2018-D00SPO-0178.000)
We plan to begin the subject evaluation in August 2018. The project was initiated by Congressional request. Our objective is to evaluate DoD compliance with relevant environmental and related laws, inter-agency and municipal agreements, and policy at sites where DoD conducts or conducted open burning of excess conventional ammunition and explosives at locations in the United States and its Territories. We will also evaluate DoD oversight of contractors performing open burning at those sites.
Evaluation of Intelligence Support to Protect U.S. Nuclear Weapons in Europe DODIG-2018-144
This evaluation determined if the level of DoD intelligence support provided to U.S. Commanders of nuclear-capable units in Europe was adequate to protect U.S. nuclear weapons. This evaluation does not address the physical security of weapon storage vaults.

This is a self-initiated evaluation that we plan to begin immediately. Our objective is to determine whether the U.S. Marine Corps' Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Africa meets U.S. Africa Command's operational requirements for crisis response. Our objective was to evaluate the Department’s implementation of prior DoD OIG recommendations and Secretary of Defense-directed organizational changes to the past conflict personnel accounting community, which resulted in the formation of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA).

Project Announcement: Evaluation of Contracting Officer Actions on Defense Contract Audit Agency Reports that Disclaim an Opinion (Project No. D2018-DAPOCF-0169.000)
The Office of the Assistant Inspector General for Audit Policy and Oversight will begin the subject project in July 2018. Our objective is to determine whether contracting officer actions complied with applicable acquisition regulations in response to findings in Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) reports that disclaim an opinion. DCAA disclaims an opinion when the auditor is unable to obtain suficient documentation on a contractor's proposal taken as a whole. The Attachment shows a listing of DCAA audit reports we have tentatively selected for evaluation.
