Last week, James Ives, the Principal Deputy Director for the Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS), led a team of DCIS investigators to Poland as part of the DoD OIG’s proactive efforts to assess potential fraud vulnerabilities related to Ukraine assistance. Poland currently serves as a hub for the transfer of foreign military equipment and supplies to the Ukrainian government.

This Lead Inspector General (Lead IG) report to the United States Congress is the 3rd report on Operation Enduring Sentinel (OES) and the 29th quarterly report detailing Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS).  The report summarizes significant events involving OES and OFS and describes completed, ongoing, and planned Lead IG and partner agency oversight work.  This report covers the period from April 1, 2022, through June 30, 2022.

DoD OIG Hosts Annual Worldwide Hotline Outreach

On July 28, 2022, the DoD OIG’s DoD Hotline hosted the Annual Worldwide Hotline Outreach. More than 275 participants from Government and non-Government hotline programs attended the virtual event, which commemorated whistleblowers for National Whistleblower Appreciation Day and spotlighted best practices, lessons learned, and examples of the greatest challenges facing the hotline oversight community.
