Glenn Fine Discusses Employee Engagement with Federal News Network
Principal Deputy Inspector General Glenn Fine discusses the efforts by leaders and employees throughout the DoD OIG to improve employee engagement with Federal News Network. In his recent article, "The Department of Defense Office of Inspector General's Seven Key Principles for Improving Our Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey Scores," published by the Center for the Advancement of Public Integrity, he describes seven key principles that the DoD OIG uses to increase employee engagement, while also improving the quality, timeliness, and impact of its oversight efforts.

DoD OIG Announces Reorganization of Evaluations Component
The Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) recently re-organized to consolidate three separate evaluations components into a single Evaluations component. Effective April 1, 2019, Policy and Oversight, Special Plans and Operations, and Intelligence and Special Program Assessments became the Evaluations component, with Deputy Inspector General Michael J. Roark leading the new component.

Fiscal Year 2018 Agency Financial Report
RMA Associates, LLC, an independent public accounting firm, audited the DoD OIG’s FY 2018 financial statements. RMA issued the DoD OIG an unmodified opinion that the DoD OIG’s financial statements are presented, in all material respects, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The DoD OIG received an unmodified opinion for the third year in a row.

External Peer Review of the DoD OIG Inspections and Evaluations Components
The DoD OIG received the results of its first external peer review of its Inspections and Evaluations components. The CIGIE peer review team conducted the peer review for the period October 2 through November 17, 2017. The CIGIE peer review team determined that the DoD OIG Inspections and Evaluations components' policies and procedures generally met the Blue Book standards addressed in the peer review. They also concluded that the reports they reviewed also met the applicable Blue Book standards.
External Peer Review of the DoD OIG Auditing Component
The DoD OIG received the results of its external peer review of its Auditing component. The CIGIE peer review team conducted the peer review for the year ending March 31, 2018. The CIGIE peer team determined that the system of quality control for the audit organization of the DoD OIG was suitably designed and complied with to provide the DoD OIG with reasonable assurance of performing and reporting in conformity with applicable standards in all material respects. The DoD OIG received an external peer review rating of pass.
