Mission

Administrative Investigations (AI) helps ensure ethical conduct throughout the DoD by conducting investigations and overseeing DoD Component investigations of allegations of misconduct by senior DoD officials, whistleblower reprisal, and Service member restriction from communication with an IG or Member of Congress.  AI also manages the DoD Hotline and the Contractor Disclosure Program, provides education and training on whistleblower protections through its Whistleblower Protection Coordinator, and facilitates voluntary resolution of whistleblower reprisal allegations through its Alternative Dispute Resolution program.

Report of Investigation: Mr. Joseph F. Guzowski Senior Executive Service DODIG 2018-062

We initiated this investigation to address an allegation that Mr. Joseph F. Guzowski, Senior Executive Service, Principal Director to The Inspector General for Inspections, Headquarters, Department of the Army Inspector General Agency, failed to treat an employee with dignity and respect. During our investigation, we identified three additional complainants who alleged additional instances in which Mr. Guzowski engaged in a course of conduct that failed to treat employees with dignity and respect. We substantiated the allegation.

Report of Investigation: Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Interactions with Family Members of Corporal Joseph Hargrove, U.S. Marine Corps DODIG-2018-061

On February 15, 2017, the DoD Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) initiated this investigation in response to a request from the Secretary of Defense to review the facts and circumstances surrounding DPAA interactions with family members of Corporal Hargrove regarding the identification and repatriation of Corporal Hargrove’s remains. We investigated whether DPAA recovered Corporal Hargrove’s remains from Koh Tang in 2008 and whether DPAA lied about recovering his remains.

Whistleblower Reprisal Investigation: Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment, Arlington, VA DODIG-2018-044

We conducted this investigation in response to allegations filed with the Department of Defense (DoD) Hotline by a sub-contractor who claimed that Leidos, Inc., non-selected the Complainant for inclusion on a bridge contract in reprisal for her making protected disclosures to company and Government officials.

Whistleblower Reprisal Investigation Blue Grass Chemical Activity Richmond, KY DODIG-2018-002

An investigation was conducted in response to an allegation that (Redacted Name), U.S. Army (USA), (Redacted Name), Blue Grass Chemical Activity (BGCA), Richmond, KY, recommended the revocation of the Complainant's access to classified information in reprisal for the protected disclosure to the chain of command and Inspector General.

Whistleblower Reprisal Investigations Bio-Medical Personnel Services Missouri National Guard Public Affairs Office DODIG-2017-083

Investigation in response to an allegation that officials from Bio-Medical Personnel Services (BPSI) Incorporated placed Complainant, a BPSI Multimedia Specialist, on unpaid administrative leave and then discharged complainant for making protected disclosures to BPSI and to officials from the Missouri National Guard Joint Force Headquarters Inspector General about not having the proper equipment to do his job and about the assignment of tasks outside the focus of what the contract specified.
