Increased Procurement Quantity for CH-53K Helicopter Not Justified

This report is the first in a series of reports evaluating Naval Air Systems Command acquisition management of the CH-53K program. We evaluated the CH-53K program documentation used to support the increased procurement quantity from 156 to 200 aircraft for the CH-53K program.

Review of DoD Response to Noncompliant Crime Laboratory Analyses (DODIG-2013-033)

At congressional request, we reviewed misconduct allegations against a forensic analyst at the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory to determine whether suspects involved in criminal investigations in which the analyst performed laboratory analyses were properly notified in accordance with requirements and if the FBI was properly notified about nonconforming tests, and data included in the Combined DNA Index System were verified or expunged.

Better Reporting and Certification Processes Can Improve Red Teams' Effectiveness

We are providing this report for your review and comment. The DoD Cyber Red Teams did not effectively repprt vulnerabilities, threats, and infiltration activities to assessed organizations and DbD Components. In addition, the assessed organizations did not correct or mitigate all vulnerabilities and did not report all security weaknesses. Finally, U.S. Strategic Co:mniand and the National Security Agency officials did not include revievys and analysis of Red Team members' proficiency, training, and certifications in their Certification and Accreditation process.
